Proviron consists of 25 mg of mesterolone per tablet. This is not an anabolic but a very powerful anti-estrogen. Avoiding gynecomastia while reducing water and fat retention, allows the restoration of testosterone production in the testicles, avoiding aromatization.
Proviron acts as an anti-aromatic: it prevents the aromatization (conversion) of anabolic steroids into estrogen. It avoids gynecomastia and can be combined with Nolvadex to increase its effectiveness. It is indeed clear that Proviron and Nolvadex are both antiestrogens, the mechanisms of action of which are different and complementary, and this is why the combination of these two products is so effective: while Proviron prevents the aromatization of anabolic steroids, Nolvadex blocks the estrogen receptor cells and prevents them from acting. So it's a huge tandem.
Proviron is not just an excellent anti-estrogen : Maintaining low levels of estrogen also reduces water retention. It gives the user the cunning look sought after by many bodybuilders, especially when preparing for competitions.
It should be noted that Proviron tends to limit muscle gains due to a steroid cycle as it attaches to androgen receptor cells in the body instead of other steroids which are then blocked and therefore ineffective. This is why many bodybuilders take a minimal dose of Proviron just to avoid gynecomastia.
In terms of the side effects of mesterolone, they are rarely less than 100 mg per day. In fact, Proviron tablets are not alpha-alkylated 17 and do not harm the liver. But when we start to exceed the 75 to 100 mg daily, common phenomena such as priapism (painful situation in which the penis does not regain its normal flaccidity after erection) in men or virilization in women occur.
